July is Disability Pride Month! This is an opportunity to honor and celebrate the achievements and experiences of the over one billion people that have disabilities worldwide. On July 26, 1990, the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law. Despite advances in legislation, people with disabilities have faced countless barriers, social stigmas, and judgement for millennia. People with disabilities seeking abortions face even more barriers when seeking health care, especially in banned states. We encourage you to educate yourself on Disability Pride Month, learn about and advocate for disability rights in the US, and meet people with disabilities and learn about their personal stories.
TEA Fund will have some exciting community events coming up soon!
- On Saturday, July 27, 2024, TEA Fund and the Westside UU Social Justice Council will be hosting a screening of the award-winning documentary Preconceived, which highlights the unethical practices and deception of “crisis pregnancy centers”, otherwise known as “anti-abortion centers.” Donation-based tickets are also available! We are accepting a pack of diapers or wipes in lieu of a monetary contribution.
- On Saturday, August 10, 2024, TEA Fund and the Church in the Cliff will be hosting our next Infant Care Resource Drive! We will be giving out free infant care supplies and free school supplies, and we will have other community organizations present to share resources.
