Announcing My Choice: Not A Crisis

Announcing My Choice: Not A Crisis
March 6, 2023 Danielle Longueville

In line with our reproductive justice values, Texas Equal Access (TEA) Fund has partnered with Texas Christian University’s (TCU) Department of Women & Gender Studies to raise awareness about the physical and emotional harm anti-abortion centers (AACs) cause to pregnant people. Introducing My Choice: Not A Crisis, our partnered campaign to take the bite and the fight out of AACs. Our work begins with an Infant Care Resource Drive, building community, and more with the support of our community partners and passionate advocates.

What are Anti-Abortion Centers?

Anti-abortion centers are commonly known as crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs). The primary goal of these tax-payer-funded fake clinics is to use medically false information, coercive tactics, emotional manipulation, and religious shaming to force people into parenthood before they are ready and/or willing due to their circumstances.

A lavender and white background with a pink square features purple and magenta text sharing more information about the infant care resource drive. There is a QR code, a logo and images of a bag of diapers as well as a stack of books.Lifting Up, Not Leaving Out: Infant Care Resource Drive

Our first step in lifting up our community and their needs with our first of what we hope to be many Infant Care Resource Drives. Join us on April 15, 2023 from  10am – 12pm on TCU Campus where TEA Fund and TCU volunteers will distribute infant care resources.

With this drive, our hope is that we will meet several goals that are often wrongfully promised and undersold by CPCs across Texas and the U.S. Our goal is to:

  • Support pregnant people in Texas by offering them ongoing and tangible support in the form of infant care items with no strings attached and no questions asked, unlike AACs.
  • Offer factual and accurate information to discourage people from seeking AACs for their falsely advertised services.
  • Highlight the dangers of AACs and affirm whatever decision pregnant people in Texas make about their bodies.
  • Empower community organizations to join us in shifting resource access in north Texas.

And build connections and community partnerships.

How You Can Help

Our work would not be possible without the support of our community of supporters. If interested in giving back to the infant care kit drive campaign, please consider the following:

  • Spread the word about our resource drive using our social media toolkit and share it with your listservs, supporters, and volunteers.
  • Share our resource drive with folx whom you think could benefit as recipients of the supplies we will distribute.
  • If you are an organization that can support pregnant people in Texas, please use our volunteer/vendor form to sign up as a vendor for a resource table at the event.
  • Please consider signing up to volunteer via our volunteer/vendor form at the event.
  • Help us collect funds for this event by sharing our fundraising links.
