In an attempt to harass and scare Texas abortion seekers and supporters, anti-abortion activist Jonathan Mitchell has served Texas abortion funds and providers with discovery requests seeking private, personal information about providers, abortion and practical support fund staff, patients, donors, supporters, and clients.
We are fighting back, we are confident we will win, and we have not handed any information over to these would-be SB 8 enforcers.
Protecting client and supporter confidentiality has ALWAYS been our priority–we have filed a protective order, and we will ALWAYS fight to safeguard the privacy of our clients and supporters.
Using scare tactics and creating fear and confusion among abortion seekers and supporters is the primary strategy of anti-abortion extremists.
We are NOT scared.
We are making every effort to comply with Texas law, and we will continue to support Texans leaving the state for LEGAL abortion care.
These discovery requests are an attempt to surveil, investigate, and harass abortion seekers, abortion supporters, and people experiencing pregnancy loss, but the antis are NOT entitled to this confidential information, and it is NOT relevant to our litigation.
We’ll keep fighting like hell in court to make sure this info stays protected. We’ve beaten the antis many times before and we’ll do it again now. Helping Texans access abortion care out of state is not prohibited by SB8. Our opposition is engaging in intimidation, and their hope is that people will respond by ending their support of abortion funds.
