TEA Fund Announces Funding Caps in 2025

Dear CommuniTEA,

Due to the overwhelming demand for abortion care and increased financial strain, we are reinstating caps for our out-of-state abortion funding program.

Since SB8 went into effect in 2021, the need for abortion funding has surged, and TEA Fund has supported more people in the last 3 years than ever in our 20-year history. Due to nationwide funding shortages, grassroots abortion funds like ours have been carrying an unsustainable burden. In fact, we’ve committed the majority of our abortion funding program budget in just the past six months due to overwhelming demand.

Funding abortion is a radical act of compassion.

We made the difficult decision to limit funding by reinstating funding caps to ensure our remaining funds serve as many people as possible. These changes allow us to balance immediate support with long-term sustainability, ensuring we can continue to assist those in urgent need.

This is a pivotal moment for TEA Fund, and we cannot do this alone. The demand for abortion funding has reached unprecedented levels. 

TEA Fund remains committed to helping people in Texas access abortion care, even as we navigate these challenging circumstances.
